It is not unusual when someone hears that you have colitis and suddenly they are some self appointed expert giving you advice that another person used for a stomach bug and it worked wonders! So why on earth would the colitis sufferer not want to use it they think? Hopefully, those diagnosed and prone to suffer from colitis symptoms will know better. Whether unintentionally or otherwise, people often can't help themselves in advising you of their own special health cure and even such a condition as colitis is not immune. If you make then aware that you are suffering from colitis symptoms, you will no doubt find someone who will voluntarily impart that they know just the thing for it. When faced with such a scenario, the best course of action is to close your ears to not only such a person but to the vast majority that think they have the answer to reduce the suffering from colitis symptoms. Such advice could be helpful for a medical condition that is not only fairly easy to diagnose but also where sufferers will all face a uniform degree of symptoms and the course of action to take to rectify them is the same for all cases. It is an acknowledged fact that colitis does not take the same characteristics as usual ailments which can be uniform in symptoms and duration and consequently, the remedy which is effective for one person will achieve similar success for another. "What diet are you following?" is not an unusual question to be asked when people get together and discuss their current health and wellbeing. It is gratifying to know that more and more people are acknowledging the fact that diet is so important in the treatment of their health condition. What they should know, however, in order to be really effective, it must be formulated to meet their particular needs. It is exactly the same when determining the correct course of action when faced with colitis symptoms including using the role of diet when living with colitis. The vital factor to be aware of is the nature and extent of the colitis diagnosis. In other words, the exact diagnosis of colitis must be determined. Is the large colon being affected by inflammation at the end part, namely proctitis, or has more extensive evidence of inflammation been detected? An uninformed guess as to the extent is certainly not a worthwhile guide to treatment. It does not take the place of a thorough physical examination and a carefully thought out diagnosis by your doctor or hospital consultant. Avoid these well meaning but potentially problem creating people at all costs. If that is not possible, just ensure you smile and thank them for their very helpful advice. It is important to go and listen and learn from where the real knowledge of colitis symptoms is located. That is the many references that are available plus the first hand experience of fellow sufferers who can impart priceless advice and knowledge learnt through having lived through it themselves. It really will be better than having to listen to some self appointed expert with their misguided advice.
